Thank you John Lake, of Brighton, UK, for sending the link to the poet and musicologist, Dr. Brian Hinton MBE.
As a Hendrix fan, one thing that grabbed my attention was the fact that Hinton has written a book on the history of the Isle of Wright Festival, entitled Message to Love.
This from Wordtravels.com:
He is the leading authority on the literary history of the Isle of Wight, and a revised edition of his definitive Discovering Island Writers is just about to appear, as is a scholarly edition of the photographic album given by Mrs Cameron to Albert Louis Cotton.
Brian is also a noted musicologist, with recent books on alt. country music and the authorised biography of folk rock pioneer Ashley Hutchings, as well as a strictly unauthorised study of Van Morrison, which provoked a song 'New Biography' by that artist. Bold as Love, his book on the new Isle of Wight festivals, is to be published in Spring 2006.
One time President of the Oxford University Poetry Society, Brian has collaborated with the painter Julian Bell on a poetry collection, The Heart's Clockwork, for the Enitharmon Press.
