About Wiggins, From Ellsworth American
In 1969, after an illustrious 20-year career at the Post and a stint as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in the final year of President Lyndon Johnson’s administration, Wiggins headed for Maine where a small weekly newspaper that he had earlier purchased awaited rejuvenation. That paper was The Ellsworth American, where he was to spend the next three decades.
