Due to the 6-12 inches of snow that would great everyone at the unshoveled Frost Farm tomorrow, this year's event has been cancelled. So sorry to all the living (and dead.) To Watch His Woods Fill Up With Snow As much as I would like to watch his woods fill up with snow, I will defer to Mother Earth and the Trustees here below. As much as my horse would not mind the easy sweep of downy flake it might make sense to cancel the plans-- except for the mice who rule the place. As much as I dream of Halloween Snow at a house that's hallowed ground, and wish to walk near the mending wall, it's true that someone could fall. As much as my heart was set on this, and my ears were keen as a deers, I'll have to dream of being there, and giving the kids their goodnight kiss.

2nd Annual Dead Poets Remembrance Day in New Hampshire

The Frost Farm, in Derry NH, is hosting a very special reading by well-known New Hampshire poets as they remember 5 of the most-famous poets who lived in the Granite state. It is free, historic, and should be a great way to say goodbye to the beautiful leaves.

Poets Mimi White, Mark DeCarteret, Bill Gleed, S Stephanie and Robert Crawford will be reading the works of and speaking on the lives of beloved poets Jane Kenyon, Robert Lowell, Robert Frost, May Sarton and Edna St. Vincent Millay, on Oct. 30th at 1 PM at The Frost Farm in Derry, NH.  The free event is the 2nd annual celebration of Dead Poets Remembrance Day in New Hampshire, a national day of remembrance founded by The Dead Poets Society of America and 20 State poets laureate in 2010.

Poets & Politics Brings State Poets Laureate to NH

The New Hampshire Writer's Project is to be commended for running a great weekend of poetry and discussion which brought over a dozen State Poets Laureate to the Granite State.

NH Center for the Book Likes Dead Poets Too!

Thanks so much to Mary Russell, the Director of the Center for the Book at the NH State Library, for putting a great notice in their blog this morning for the upcoming historic celebration on Sunday at the lovely Robert Frost Farm, in Derry.

Any chance you are related to Amy, or Maria, or James, or Robert, Mrs. Russell? On Monday, we'll have special presentations on Amy, Maria, and James Lowell, at 2 PM at Mt. Auburn Cemtery, during the Great Boston Poetry Marathon.

Frost Farm Hosts 1st Dead Poets Remembrance Day

The beautiful and historic Robert Frost Farm has joined with the Dead Poets Society of America to host the first New Hampshire Dead Poets Remembrance Day. The grand celebration will take place in the famous Frost barn from 3:00 sharp to 4:30 PM, on Sunday, October 10th.

All are welcome to attend the reading. There is a fee of $4 (NH resident) or $5 (non NH resident) to enter to Farm, which is truly one of the best-kept literary sites in the country.

Granite State Poets on the 2010 Poetry Out Loud List

We've gleaned over 20 poems of New Hampshire poets from the long list of prestigious poems collected for this years tremendous Poetry Out Loud competiton.

Remembrance Celebrations in Maine & Boston

In conjuntion with the Remembering the Poets of the Granite State celebration on Sunday, October 10th, there are going to be two other celebrations of Dead Poets Remembrance Day that Granite State residents may want to attend.

In Maine, on October 7th, there are 5 different readings along the coast, from sunrise to sunset, all part of Remembering Maine's Island Poets.

On Columbus Day, the 11th, the Great Boston Poetry Marathon will be held, starting at sunrise in Gloucester and finishing off with readings on Author's Ridge, in Concord.
