Philadelphia's historic Christ Church will be the location of the 1st Dead Poets Remembrance Day celebration in Pennsyslvania, at 7 PM, on Sunday, October 5th. The event is free and open to the public, and the church is wheelchair accesible.
The event will be in special remembrance of Daniel Hoffman, the former US Poet Laureate and longtime mentor, scholar, and fixture in the Philadelphia literary community. The works of Elizabeth McFarland Hoffman, his wife, will also be read, and Christ Church historian, Neil Ronk, will give a presentation of two Colonial-era poets who are buried at the church: Nathaniel Evans and Elizabeth Fergusson.
Here is the confirmed list of readers for the event, and more will be announced soon: Kim Bridgford, Lee Slonimsky, Prof. Nathalie Anderson, Dr. Emily Mitchell Wallace, Miriam Kotzin, Carol Shloss, and Helen McKenna-Uff.
